About the Currency Converter

The FreeToolsPoint Currency Converter is an online calculator for estimating the value of one supported currency in another. It retrieves the latest available reference rates and applies them to the amount entered by the user.

The current interface includes ten currencies: the United States dollar, Pakistani rupee, euro, British pound, UAE dirham, Saudi riyal, Indian rupee, Canadian dollar, Australian dollar and Japanese yen.

The result is designed for general comparison and planning. It is not a quote from a bank, card company, remittance service, foreign-exchange dealer or payment platform.

Convert between commonly used international and regional currencies.

Currency Swap

Reverse the selected original and target currencies with one button.

Rate Date Display

Review when the available exchange-rate data was last updated.

The latest successful rate response may be stored locally to reduce unnecessary data requests.

How to Use the Currency Converter

  1. Wait for the latest available exchange rates to load.
  2. Enter the amount that you want to convert.
  3. Select the currency in which the amount is currently stated.
  4. Select the currency into which the amount should be converted.
  5. Select Convert Currency or allow the result to update automatically after changing an input.
  6. Review the converted amount, exchange-rate calculation and last update date.
  7. Confirm the final rate and fees with the institution that will complete the actual transaction.
Use the swap button to reverse the two selected currencies. The entered amount remains unchanged.

How the Currency Converter Works

The page requests a table of exchange rates using USD as the base currency. Each listed rate represents the value of one US dollar in the relevant currency.

When USD is the original currency, the calculator multiplies the entered amount by the target-currency rate.

When another currency is selected as the original currency, the calculator first divides the amount by that currency’s USD rate. It then multiplies the resulting USD value by the target-currency rate.

Conversion formula: entered amount ÷ original-currency rate × target-currency rate.

Locally Cached Rate Data

A successful rate response is stored in localStorage in the current browser. The stored response may be reused for up to 24 hours because the selected open data source normally updates once per day.

When the online request fails, an older locally cached response may be used with a visible warning. The tool does not substitute invented or hardcoded exchange rates.

Why Currency Conversion Rates Can Differ

A reference exchange rate is not necessarily the rate offered during an actual purchase, transfer or cash exchange. Different providers may use different data sources and pricing methods.

Rate or charge Meaning
Reference rate A general rate used to estimate the relative value of two currencies.
Buying rate The rate at which a provider buys a currency from a customer.
Selling rate The rate at which a provider sells a currency to a customer.
Exchange-rate spread The difference between the provider’s buying and selling prices.
Service or transfer fee An additional charge applied separately from the exchange rate.
Card-provider adjustment A conversion rate or fee applied by a card network, bank or payment service.
Do not use this calculator as the sole basis for a large purchase, remittance, investment, accounting entry or foreign exchange transaction. Confirm the applicable rate and charges with the relevant provider.

Currency Converter Privacy

The amount and selected currency codes are used by JavaScript in the browser to calculate the result. The tool does not create a personal conversion-history account.

The page sends an online request to an external exchange-rate data service. The service and the wider website may receive standard technical information associated with internet requests, such as an IP address and browser information.

The latest successful rate response may be stored in localStorage in the current browser for up to 24 hours. This cached information contains exchange rates and update dates, not the user’s entered amount or conversion history.

The wider website may separately use hosting logs, analytics, cookies or advertising services. Those activities should be explained in the main FreeToolsPoint Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

Currency Converter Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Currency Converter work?

It retrieves reference rates using USD as the base currency. Non-USD amounts are converted to USD first and then converted into the selected target currency.

How frequently are the exchange rates updated?

The open exchange-rate data source used by this page normally refreshes its rates once per day.

Are these guaranteed bank or remittance rates?

No. The displayed rates are general reference rates. Banks, remittance services, exchange companies and card providers may use different rates and apply additional charges.

Why is my bank showing a different result?

A bank may apply a buying rate, selling rate, exchange-rate spread, service fee, card charge or other adjustment.

Which currencies are supported?

The current interface supports USD, PKR, EUR, GBP, AED, SAR, INR, CAD, AUD and JPY.

Can I convert PKR to USD?

Yes. Select PKR as the original currency and USD as the target currency.

What happens when the online rate request fails?

The page attempts to use the latest exchange-rate response previously cached in the current browser. When no cached data is available, it displays an error instead of using invented fixed rates.

Is my conversion history stored?

The tool does not create or store a list of your conversions. It stores only the latest successful rate response for temporary reuse.

Can I use the result for accounting?

The result can provide a general estimate. For an accounting entry, use the exchange rate required by the applicable accounting policy, transaction document, contract or official source.

Can I use the Currency Converter on mobile?

Yes. The page is designed to work on supported phones, tablets and desktop browsers.
